Personal Goal Ideas For 2023 + How To Start Living Your Best Life Today?

Creating vision boards and coming up with personal goal ideas for 2023 should be an exciting experience not a tedious activity. In fact, we should set milestones to reach throughout the year. Doing this keeps our lives vibrant and fluid. You should never remain in the same place you were in the year before.

Mid-year I often question if I’ve been productive enough as the new year rears its pretty little head. I reflect on the goal ideas I created six months prior and always wonder, “where the heck has the time gone?”

This is exactly why short-term and long-term goals are important. They help with pushing the needle forward on things we’d like to achieve in our personal and professional lives.

Intentional goal setting is the key to attaining your life’s vision and mission. Being intentional allows us to break down our personal goals into small, realistic action steps that we can complete on a weekly basis.

It’s time to make your dreams your reality goal-friends. Let’s brainstorm some goal ideas to make 2022 your best year yet!

How can I change my life in 30 days?

There are plenty of personal goal ideas to go around, so learn how you can start living your best life today by making a few simple changes to your daily routine.

How often do you use your planner or write a list of goals to set for yourself?

This isn’t a task to only focus on during the first quarter of the year. Setting personal and professional goals should occur every 30 days.

Now, I’m sure you’re wondering why 30 days? I get it, setting and accomplishing goals isn’t easy, but you have to factor in the curve balls that we’re often thrown.

How can I sum this up in so many words?… Life happens. Emergencies pop up and we have to push deadlines aside.

And since we don’t possess magical powers to see into the future, it’s best we stick to creating monthly goals rather than filling our planners with fluff  365 days next year.

Come on, I know I’m not the only one who has unused planners on the shelf collecting dust.

Save yourself the anxiety and unchain yourself from that to-do list. You’re human, anything can happen!

Now, just writing a list of goals and forgetting about them won’t get you anywhere. There are several things you need to do to hold yourself accountable, even if it means starting from scratch mid-year.

Here are four steps you can follow to reset and track progress with your personal goals:

  • Revisit the ‘why’ of your goals. What are the results and are they realistically attainable?
  • Realize where you’re at now and assess your progress. Have you set a time frame to reach each goal?
  • Realign your priorities and eliminate distractions that will hinder your success.
  • Restructure your current routines or create new ones that will support your goals

Checking off items on that daily to-do list is one thing, but what are you really working towards?

For those who struggle with discipline or fair better with a step-by-step guide, I recommend following a 30-day challenge. Believe it or not, there’s a 30-day challenge for many goal ideas.

Sage and Bloom has an exhaustive list of 65 amazing 30-day challenge ideas to improve your life.

I’m a firm believer in putting self-care as a top priority when developing goal ideas.

How successful can you be at drop-kicking your goals if you’re not putting your health and wellness first?

When I finally set boundaries in my life I no longer took my work home with me. Anything that occurred at the office, stayed at the office. My coworkers weren’t up for discussion at the dinner table either.

Once I severed ties between my work and home life, my stress levels diminished tremendously. I had more time to spend with my family, on passion projects, and nurturing the skin I’m in.

Drawing lines and eliminating grey areas in my daily schedule taught me to value balance more.

After realizing how important it is to limit my access to others and to create space for the things I want to accomplish, it was much easier to tackle my goal ideas for life without feeling frustrated and overwhelmed.

I formed healthy habits by following 30-day challenges to improve my life, and my personal goal ideas were no longer unattainable dreams I felt tethered to. Download the 31 Day Simple Living Challenge to improve your life today! Now available in the FREE RESOURCE LIBRARY!

It’s perfectly fine to put yourself first, goal friends.

Just remember that your personal goal ideas will rarely look identical to someone else’s. We’re all individuals who lead completely different lifestyles, which is why we need balance.

Balance is invaluable, because it assists with making our days clearer. It helps us to declutter mentally and zero in on the things that matter most.

Highly successful people excel at scratching items off their personal goal ideas list because they aren’t afraid to say no and give themselves grace when they make mistakes.

They prioritize self-care, remain flexible with personal deadlines, and don’t strive for perfectionism. They’re positive people who seek solutions above anything else.

What are personal goals?

A personal goal is any desire or thing you’d like to attain that can apply to your career, relationships, health or lifestyle for positive development as an individual. Personal goals contribute to our growth and should yield positive outcomes.

Personal goals are subjective, limitless, and can change often. Setting personal goals is a healthy exercise to complete on a monthly basis. They combat procrastination and complacency all while increasing confidence, self-motivation, and productivity in our lives.

How do you set personal goals everyday?

The best way to set personal goals is to conduct an honest self-assessment. Ask yourself the following questions:

  • What areas of my life need improvement?
  • What areas of my life are flourishing?
  • In what ways can I be a better person to others?
  • In what ways can I treat myself better?
  • Am I progressing towards my goals?
  • What’s my vision for the future?
  • Where will I be a year from now?

Your answers will determine the type of personal goal ideas you set, or will at the very least provide you with a general idea.

Is your social life lacking because you spend every waking hour at work? Finding a job with a better work-life balance may be a viable solution.

With a set schedule, you’ll have more time to spare, which means more time for self-care, self-development, and indulging in precious moments with the people you love.

How do others view you at work or at home? Are you pleasant to be around? Or are you always in the middle of conflict? We don’t ask ourselves the hard questions enough. It’s time to check bad habits and destructive behavior at the door.

Self-development results from setting personal goals. You should always strive to be better than who you were the day before. Think about the role you play in arguments. Are you the aggressor, agitator, or mediator? What are some things you can do differently to resolve conflict or prevent it from escalating?

Maybe you’ve treated someone unfairly in the past, or aren’t being a supportive friend or partner. Take the baby steps needed to be a ray of light in the room. Minor acts of kindness, here and there, hurts no one, it actually goes a long way.

What is a personal goal example?

An example of a personal goal is identifying one or more areas of your life in need of development and taking action to yield a positive outcome.

Therefore, a personal goal example can simply be a change in lifestyle. Developing healthier eating habits to lose weight, building muscle mass to tone your body more, or following a restricted diet to lower risks of diabetes, obesity, or heart disease – these are all personal goal examples.

Will you accomplish these personal goals overnight? It’s highly unlikely, but your habits can certainly change within 24 hours.

If your goal is to lose 10-15lbs in one month, pencil in time to exercise and strategically create meal plans that will lower your calorie intake. You must  remain consistent even if it means getting an accountability partner to help you stay on track.

Make the commitment and you can knock out your personal goals in no time. Examples of personal goal ideas and the reasons people set them are endless.

What are some good goals for 2022?

There’s no set of rules to follow when creating personal goals. Do what works best for you in 2022. Start living your best life today;  tomorrow’s not guaranteed to any of us.

Thanks for staying ahead of the game and creating a list of goals to set for yourself in the new year. We’ve got goal posts to move and things to do goal-friends.

And that vision board you created back in January – pull it back out again. We want all areas of your life to be flourishing, so it’s best to envision where your life will be a year from now.

How will you check off items in your bucket list? You don’t have to answer this question now, it’s just a reminder to always keep goals in front of you.

While there’s a plethora of long-term goal ideas to choose from, just make sure you select what works best for your lifestyle and not anyone else’s.

Remember, slow and steady wins the race. Take a few hours to determine your personal goal ideas for life then divide them into different areas of need; avoid placing deadlines and take everything in stride instead.

So, what are your monthly personal goal ideas for 2022? This is a question that requires some self-reflection. If you ever get stuck, research a few 30-day challenges to try. These will help with brainstorming and creating daily goal ideas.

Think of ways you can develop your skill set outside of your day job. Is there a new hobby you’d like to take up on the weekends or a fear you’d like to face?

What are your personal goal ideas for school? Take an extra class or two for the semester; one you may genuinely enjoy for pleasure.

Center yourself, whether it requires you to take a step back or scrap all those old, disorganized personal goal ideas for 2021.

Give yourself permission to start living your best life today!
