100 Things To Do On A Rainy Day For Adults

Fun things to do on a rainy day for adults

Don’t let dreary weather keep you down this season. This list of 100 things to do on a rainy day for adults will surely keep you entertained and inspired.

Rainy days are the perfect excuse to stay inside and indulge in activities you wouldn’t normally do.

Whether you want to remain productive, have a little fun, be creative, or sit back and relax, we have something on the list for you.

From cozy activities like knitting, picking back up a novel you put down, to checking off larger projects like decluttering your digital files or reorganizing your closet, there are so many things to do.

Starting a side hustle, binging a new crime podcast, or taking part in a cooking challenge are all indoor activities you can try at home when it’s gloomy outside.

When the sun hides behind the clouds, and the skies are gray, these rainy day activities will put you in a much better mood.

Rain, sleet, and snow on top of shorter days while the sun hibernates can be a lot to handle for some. If you suffer from seasonal depression, staying active with plenty of exercise and a vitamin packed diet is key.

Tuck away this list of things to do on a rainy day for safekeeping or use it as a ‘cozy activity checklist’ for every season.

I love the rain as long as I’m not in it, so I refer to this list often.

Some people choose to sleep the day away, which can be a great option too, but I prefer to make it a fun, productive work day instead.

Yes, goal friends, it’s possible to have fun and get tasks done at the same time, it just depends on your approach.

How do I spend my rainy day?

On a rainy day, I typically stay home or use my home to entertain. I don’t enjoy getting all dolled up just for my outfit and hair to get ruined by running out of the rain.

Inviting friends over to have some company easily eliminates this issue.

So, if you’re big on socializing and don’t want to spend a rainy weekend alone, get the Netflix series rolling, throw a few extra comforters out on the couch, order some pizza or make a charcuterie board to make your guests feel right at home.

In the mood for some alone time? This is the perfect day to catch up on some reading, work on a house project, or complete daily chores you weren’t able to get to during the work week.

I enjoy playing catch up with family and friends virtually with the extra time I have inside, too.

Naturally, I’m a homebody, so the drab weather doesn’t bother me much. A stack of books and movie line up usually does the trick, but lately I’ve been in my content creation bag.

Instead of running to a local cafe or Starbucks, I force myself to sit in my desk chair and I use my digital content calendar to plan a month’s worth of content and write.

My days are pretty busy so I have to schedule in fun. If not, I spend my rainy days writing content for the blog and creative fiction.

Both are essentially hobbies that give me an excuse to break away from my mundane schedule during the week.

Another way to spend your rainy days is to do things that will earn you money. These can either be from active or passive income strategies.

How can I make money on a rainy day at home?

1. Start A Faceless YouTube Channel

Is YouTube over-saturated? That’s the question everyone asks, but I have some good news for you – it’s not! As long as you’re creating original content within a profitable niche, it’s definitely still possible to grow and monetize a YouTube channel.

Even one where you don’t have to show your face.

Some of the top faceless niches to tap into on YouTube are personal finance, education, tech tutorials, graphic design, history, self improvement, and health and wellness.

Vlogging is still popular, but faceless YouTube channels open up opportunities for people who don’t want to reveal their identities or put themselves out there for the world to see.

It’s easier to gain more traction when your audience can build a personal connection with you, but YouTube has made a space for introverts to profit, too.

      2. Offer A Coaching Service

What’s your expertise? Learn how to earn money while you’re not working on your regular 9-to5 job Monday through Friday.

Maybe you’re an expert in accounting, legal advice, digital marketing skills, business ownership, investing, fitness, or mental health. No matter what your educational or career background is, you can make money too.

Think about creating and offering online classes, opening a Patreon account, doing coaching calls, or running a subscription service for people that may be interested in learning from you.

        3. Create Digital Products

If you’re skilled at graphic design, the opportunities to create digital products to sell are endless.

You can create coloring books, puzzles, stickers, prints for clothes and mugs, and marketing materials.

Depending on the type of business you own, digital planners, notebooks, journals, or children’s books may bring in the big bucks.

          4. Write An E-Book

Ebooks are great ways to earn money on a rainy day, because they are quick to create using tools like Canva and they require little to no research when you’re the expert.

E-books can range from various genres within fiction or nonfiction. They cost little to produce with AI apps like ChatGPT and MidJourney to create cover graphics for you and you can sell them on places like Amazon, Shopify, Instagram or a personal website.

There’s also no limit on the pricing. If your e-book is packed with valuable resources and helpful information that your students, audience or readers can implement right away, it’s possible to price ebooks for $50.00 or more.

Build a large email list that you can market your ebooks to and you’ll be making a profit in no time.

            5. Sell On TikTok Shop

TikTok Shop is fairly new but profitable. It’s now the go-to QVC channel for social media. If you haven’t hopped on the TikTok shop train, now is the time to do it.

People are impulse buying left and right on the platform and content creators are raking in the big bucks.

So, if you like to shop and love to promote the items you love and do hauls, join TikTok shop and add your affiliate links to get a percentage back.

Is rain good for mental health?

The sound of rainfall is calming and soothing, similar to ‘white noise’.

There’s a reason why people with insomnia play rain videos to lull them to sleep every night.

According to VeryWell Health, rain has positive effects on mental health for many people.

Rainfall can boost your mood, reduce stress, and have a calming effect on your mind. The slower pace offers a break from the usual hustle, allowing more time to rest and reset.

Rainy days provide the perfect setting and ambiance for creatives as well. The dimmed lighting triggers introspection, which makes it easier to focus on projects and to self-reflect.

The sensory experience of rain such as the smell, sound, and cool touch can ground you in the present moment, reduce overthinking, and promote mindfulness.

There are plenty of people who don’t enjoy the rain, but for some, it’s the perfect opportunity to slow down, recharge, and reconnect with themselves.
